About J.D. Mesnard
Public Service
J.D. Mesnard has dedicated much of his career to serving the people of Arizona. He has represented Chandler and Sun Lakes in the Arizona Senate for eight years and previously served eight years in the Arizona House of Representatives, including as Speaker of the House.
Before running for office, he worked eight years as a policy advisor in the Senate and has spent nearly a decade working at a nonprofit legal advocacy organization that helps protect constitutional rights and assist individuals navigating the legal system – experience that gives him a deep understanding of the law and reinforces his commitment to fairness and the consistent, equal application of justice.
Education & Professional Background
J.D. graduated summa cum laude from Arizona State University and holds two master’s degrees in Business and Public Administration.
He has spent two decades teaching political science, helping students understand government, law, and the state and federal constitutions as adjunct faculty at Arizona State University, Mesa Community College, and Chandler-Gilbert Community College.
Family & Community
J.D. has always sought to be an active participant at all levels of the community and beyond, helping establish Voices of the World, a nonprofit Christian charity providing humanitarian aid to people living in poverty in Africa.
Born at MacDill Air Force Base (his father is a retired fighter pilot), J.D. has lived in Arizona for more than 35 years. He and his wife, Holly, a family nurse practitioner, live in Chandler and are raising their three children.
