Newcomers will win the two House seats in the Republican primary in District 21 no matter who voters choose. The race has no incumbents.

That may be a good thing.

Arizona state legislators have done a disservice to constituents, allowing partisan politics to get in the way of moving the state forward.

Fresh bodies and clear minds may be the antidote to stalemates on budgets, education, tax reform and other state issues.

Still, experience is always an asset. Candidates J.D. Mesnard and Venessa Whitener have it. Voters should elect them in the Republican primary.

That’s why every two weeks, I post one of my “Life’s Little Pleasures” photographs showcasing something worth talking about, trying out, or exploring. Here’s my take for March 8.

People who know me, know that I am so not a political animal. But, I am a dedicated American. I believe in our country’s Constitution and that “for which it stands.” And, this week, I discovered someone else who believes in it, too: J.D. Mesnard.

Javan Mesnard, who has been working for the Senate for eight years, has opened a campaign committee to run for Legislative District 21.

The only person who seemingly is complying with the state's resign-to-run law is someone to whom the law doesn't even apply. Today is Senate policy advisor Javan Mesnard's last day on staff. After working eight years for the Republican majority, Mesnard is opening a committee to run for the House in LD-21, where the entire delegation (Nichols, Yarbrough and Tibshraeny) is termed-out.
